Esen Irtem Karagöz is graduated from Galatasaray University Faculty of Law in 2007. After the graduation, she worked as a legal counsel at Paksoy law firm, specializing in Banking, Finance, and Capital Markets, until 2016. Between 2011 and 2012, she worked at the ECM & DMC departments of the London and Munich offices of Linklaters LLP. In 2016, she joined Pekin & Bayar (Norton Rose Fulbright, Turkey) as a Partner, where she led the Banking, Finance, and Capital Markets department. Since the beginning of 2021, she has been serving as Senior Legal Counsel responsible for Contracts, Consultancy and Compliance at Tüpraş-Turkey Petroleum Refineries Corp., providing legal & compliance services to Tüpraş and its subsidiaries. She is also lecturer at TEID for “Third-Party Compliance Risks in Energy Companies with Practical Examples” as part of the Corporate Ethics and Compliance Management Program for Executives and Bilgi University’s Compliance Management Program on International Sanctions. She is committee member at Sustainability Committees of Tüpraş and ISTAC. Her areas of interest include sanctions, sustainability and climate crisis, artificial intelligence, and robotics developments.
